8 Pillars of Mental Wellbeing and How to Address Them

Mental wellbeing has been at the forefront of the media in the last few years. While most people know that it’s important, many people don’t know is that there are actually 8 pillars of mental wellbeing.

Knowledge8, a component of the WellBalance Mental Wellbeing Program, was created to help you break down those pillars to understand yourself and your needs better!

The 8 Pillars of Mental Wellbeing

1. Nutritional Wellbeing

It can be difficult to find nutritious, whole foods on the go. Nutritional wellbeing means giving your body the fuel needed to function at its optimal level.

However, Wellworks knows it can be challenging to know where to start. That is why we offer a range of nutritionally based e-Learning series and webinars to provide the knowledge and information you need to make food choices that will allow your body to be its strongest, regardless of your food limitations.

2. Financial Wellbeing

Finances are a part of life but they don’t need to be a difficult part. Financial wellness is defined as feeling secure about any future financial situations that may arise, and knowing that things like payable debts are part of a healthy financial life.

Wellworks offers a range of financial wellbeing tools, such as our free bi-monthly Concentus Financial University webinars. This webinar helps participants clear a path toward financial success and security. For groups looking to incentivize financial wellness, we offer FinFit – a program dedicated to helping employees and employers improve their financial health and become financially stable.

3. Environmental Wellbeing

Environmental wellbeing means living in harmony with the Earth by taking actions to protect it. This is why we recommend incentivizing activities such as community wellness. It encourages participants to help out within their communities to make their environment, and the Earth, a better place.

4. Physical Wellbeing

Physical wellbeing doesn’t have to mean running marathons or hiking mountains. In other words, physical wellbeing is the state of feeling good within your own body.

Wellworks offers a variety of options to promote and encourage physical wellbeing from the inside – out. Consider including a biometric screening or annual physical in your wellness program. This encourages participants to regularly check up on their health. In addition, walking challenges are a great way to encourage movement and exercise for groups looking to make physical wellbeing fun.

5. Intellectual Wellbeing

The best way to grow and learn is to nurture our intellectual wellbeing. For instance, continuing to find ways to expand our mindsets and existing skills. Improving intellectual wellbeing can include challenging yourself, traveling, and delving into your interests.

Wellworks’ broad range of recorded webinars offers information on topics ranging from the Top 10 Superfoods to Digital Detoxing. They provide useful, thought-provoking information that falls within a broad range of interests.

6. Emotional Wellbeing

Emotional wellbeing can feel like an intangible topic, but it means having the ability to cope effectively with life and create meaningful relationships. We know that the journey towards emotional wellness is not always clear, which is why we offer WellBalance to give you the in-depth tools you need for success.

7. Social Wellbeing

Did you know that people with strong and meaningful social relationships tend to be happier, healthier, and live longer than those who do not? Above all, it’s important to understand what social wellbeing looks like and have the tools to know how to strengthen it.

The WellBalance program understands how important a healthy social life is to physical and emotional health. This is why it is included in all Mindyra Mental Health Surveys and a focus of the WellBalance program.

8. Connectedness

Connectedness is also known as our spiritual health and is what allows us to live each day in a meaningful, purposeful, and mindful manner. It is our ability to be present in each moment, with ourselves, our community, and our environment.

Wellworks’ free, monthly Meditation Courses are intended to ease participants into the practice of meditation while providing the tools necessary to continue and deepen your practice. If you aren’t sure where to start, we offer a Roadmap to Mindfulness e-Learning Series. This series is an interactive program intended to introduce participants to the basics of mindfulness and meditation.
