Our Know Your Number addresses productivity and absenteeism cost loss in our aggregate reporting. The annual cost figures utilized in our aggregate reporting includes both direct medical costs of each disease state and indirect costs which include productivity loss and absenteeism costs. We use the annual costs of treating each chronic disease complied every year or two years by the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, American Stroke Association, NIH, and CDC. These organizations perform an exhaustive analysis of health data including medical claims, pharmacy claims and additional data sources that look at productivity and absenteeism. These findings are validated and published which provides accurate and objective cost estimates.
These annual costs tie nicely with Know Your Number because we predict an individual’s actual disease risk for the key chronic diseases (CHD onset, CHD recurrence, stroke onset, stroke recurrence, diabetes onset, heart failure, COPD, and Lung Cancer). These diseases and co-morbidities drive around 75 – 80% of our country’s health costs. Also, KYN shows how much of an individual’s disease specific risk is modifiable … so at the aggregate level we can show the employer how much of their future incremental disease cost burden is avoidable. Both direct costs and indirect costs (which includes productivity and absenteeism loss).
