Wellness Terms Every Pro Should Know
When you participate in your wellness program, you’ll likely see certain terms pop up again and again. Understanding what they mean can help you make the most of your benefits, avoid confusion, and feel confident about taking action. Here are a few important ones to know:
Physician Results Form (PRF)
This form allows your doctor to share your biometric results (like blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar) directly with Wellworks For You. Submitting a PRF ensures your health numbers are up to date in the portal, which can help you qualify for program incentives.
Age/Gender Screenings
Some preventive screenings—like mammograms, colonoscopies, or prostate exams—are recommended based on your age and gender. Your wellness program tracks these so you’ll know when you’re due, saving you from the guesswork of “Am I supposed to get that this year?”
Biometrics
These are key health indicators, like height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose. Together, they give you (and your provider) a snapshot of your current health and risk factors.
Preventive Care
Preventive care includes screenings, vaccines, and annual checkups—services designed to catch health issues early. Many insurance plans cover preventive care at no cost to you, so it pays (literally) to take advantage of it.
Deductible
The amount you pay for covered healthcare services before your insurance starts to contribute. Knowing your deductible helps you understand your potential out-of-pocket costs.
Copay
A set dollar amount you pay for a healthcare service (like a doctor visit or prescription), usually at the time of service.
Aggregate Data
This is when your employer sees overall health trends for the workforce—never individual results. For example, they might learn that a percentage of employees are due for screenings, but they won’t see your specific results. Your privacy stays protected.
Portal
Your Wellworks For You online hub. The portal is where you can log activity, track progress, complete challenges, and see your health numbers and program status. Think of it as your central command for wellness.
Why It Matters
Understanding these terms helps you take full advantage of your program, from completing preventive care to earning incentives. The more you know, the easier it becomes to make informed choices about your health and wellbeing.
