Wake Up Happy.
Let’s admit it – we are not all morning people. Even if we are morning people, we can have those days where we just don’t want to get up. This is why you should give yourself something to look forward to every morning when you wake up. For some people, that’s exercise. For other people, it’s a warm cup of coffee and a good book. What do you look forward to waking up to in the morning?

Be Prepared.
To make your mornings easier, be sure to be prepared ahead of time. Pick out your clothes the night before, and if you are bringing a healthy lunch to work – have it ready in the fridge for the next day. This will give you extra time to enjoy yourself, rather than rushing to get out the door in the morning.

Get Enough Sleep.
You knew this one was coming! Yes… sleep is important. TIME magazine reports that anywhere between 6.5 to 7.5 hours of sleep is the optimum amount of hours per night as to not feel groggy in the morning. Keep in mind that everyone’s body functions differently. Find out the appropriate amount of sleep for you, and stick to it!

  1. Stay On The Move. Sitting at your desk is one of the silent killers of health and productivity. If you have teleconferences or tasks you can perform while your mobile – do it! Staying on the go as much as possible can help your creativity flow and your heart pumping.
  2. No More Donuts On The Way In. It’s tempting to stay in bed a little longer and pick up a quick donut on our way to work – but the accumulation of the amount of donuts (or any other unhealthy quick breakfast) can add up to some big numbers over the course of your work week. Try picking up something healthy on the go or taking an hour out of your week to pre-make some delicious freeze and heat meals for your morning.
  3. Stand Up. Even if you are unable to take some of your work on the go as we mentioned earlier, see if you can raise your desk so that you can stand at work. Also don’t forget to stretch regularly. Keeping your body moving and not-so stationary will help you avoid risk of obesity, heart disease, and many more preventable chronic diseases.
